Forever In Blue Jeans

This is my boys and I at our local library storytime. We've been going to storytime since Zander was about 18 months old. I've never taken a picture of us there, so I thought it would be a good picture for this week. I wasn't sure if I would remember to grab my camera before I left, but I did. Unfortunently, I didn't check to make sure I put the memory card back in it. So, this picture is not the best quality, because it was taken with my phone. But it's cute anyway. Thanks, Andrea, for taking this picture for us!

Are you the Mom who's always taking pictures and look back only to realize you aren't IN any of them? Do your kids look through photo albums and ask "Where were you Mommy?" Well, Carin over at Forever in Blue Jeans decided to change all that and challenges any one who's interested to do the same. So hand over the camera, or at least figure out the self-timer and get on the other side of the lens more often. Post your photos of you enjoying time with your family every Thursday and share the link with other Mom's by posting it on Carin's blog. You can start any time with week 1 of 52, don't worry about being "behind" just jump on in.

Patty Cake

Mason loves music! Every time he hears someone singing or music playing, he starts "dancing." He'll swing his head back and forth and move his legs up and down in a jumping motion. I have to say it's pretty cute! He has recently learned how to clap & play patty cake. He loves to do it just randomly, all day long. I love watching him!

Family Kickball Night

It wasn't an official family night, but it was for Zander. He had his Mom & Dad & brother there, along with his Uncle & Cousin, his Aunt and Grandma, and his Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa. Here are some pictures from his "Family Night."

A Little Fun

Before dinner on Monday night, we spent about an hour outside playing. The boys usually love to be outside and it was the perfect weather. Mason really enjoys being let loose to explore and walk all over. Zander loves to get the water out and play with his sand and water pit that Papa gave him. I got some really cute pictures of the two of them playing together.

Easy Tortilla Soup (& YUMMY Too!)

I found this recipe on the back of a can of refried beans a few years ago. I thought it sounded good, so I tried it. I loved it and have been making it every fall and winter since. It has gotten cooler out, so I decided we should have some this week. Here is the recipe and some yummy pictures so you can try it too.

Tortilla Soup
2 cans of Rotel Tomatoes
1 can of Refried Beans
32 oz of Chicken Broth
1/2 cup of corn
2 cups of shredded chicken
Tortilla Chips
Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Mix 1st 4 ingredients in pot and bring to boil, simmer for 5 minutes. Add chicken and heat thoroughly. Spoon into bowl, top with chips and cheese and enjoy!

A Delicacy

With all the rain we've been having, there have been a few snails show up in out front yard. One had made his home on our front door. Jason pointed it out to Zander and asked if he wanted to hold it. Zander hates all insects, so of course he said no. To my surprise, the next day he told Daddy he wanted to hold the snail. Take a look, he was actually smiling when he had it in his hand!

After holding it for a few seconds, he gave it back to Daddy and said, "I want to eat snail." What!??! You want to eat it!

YUM! They are a delicacy in some countries.

Just so you know, we didn't really let him eat it.

Family Collage in Text

I found this idea in my Scrapbook Etc. magazine for this month and decided to give it a try. I used my Picasa program to make this collage of my favorite pictures from this year...
Then, I used my Photoshop Elements to put the collage into text. I plan on making my cards for this year out of this. I really love how it looks. I can't wait to finish this project and see the end result.

Lions Junction Layout

I found this super cute layout in this month's Scrapbooks Etc. Magazine (pg 44) and mimicked it for this layout. I love how it turned out. I don't normally use pink as I live in a house full of boys thus most of my pictures are of boys. I also have been trying out stitching on my layouts. I said I would never do that, I guess I'm eating those words :)

Here is a picture of the page in the magazine and mine. Click on the picture to enlarge it so you can see the details better.

Zander's Day Out w/Thomas

Today was the BIG day! Zander go to meet Thomas at Day Out with Thomas in Burnet, TX. We didn't tell Zander, so he was happily surprised when he figured out what we were doing. He just LOVES Thomas the Tank Engine! We had a great time! There was so much to do, we really wish we could have stayed longer. Here are some pictures of our fun day...

Paper Quilted Pictures

I found this project on My Little Gems and loved it. So, I had to try it. I used a smaller canvas, mine was only 7"x9". I also wrapped my "quilting" around the edges instead of painting them. I love how they turned out and can't wait to find a spot for them on my wall. Check out Sharla's blog post on Quilting With Paper to find out how to make them.
