What a Catch!

We went out on the boat this evening to swim, ski, and fish. I was able to get up on the skis for the first time, only for a few yards, but I did it! I was pretty proud of myself.

Zander has been asking to fish for about 2 weeks, so after I skied, we found a spot and got out the fishing gear out. Zander was the only one to get a catch. Daddy really did all the work, but the fish was caught on Zander's Spongebob pole. Zander I think was more into eating his snack than helping Daddy. He did watch him pull it in and looked at it when he pulled it out of the water. It was a pretty big bass.

Memorial Day Fun

We had a very fun Memorial Day. Sorry this post is so late, but better late than never, right! Anyhow, we left the house around noon, picked up Jason's Dad and headed to the San Gabriel River. We attempted to fish there, but it was really too early, and we were all a little worried that Zander may get carried away and fall in.

We brought stuff with us for hamburgers, so while Jason grilled them, we all sat in the grass and played and Zander & Papa played at the park. It was a nice afternoon at the park.

After dropping Jason's dad off and letting Zander take a nap on the way home, we headed to our usual Lake to get some better fishing. Zander really seems to love fishing and we paid a lot of money for our licences, so we are going to be fishing as often as possible. Anyhow, we didn't catch anything, but it was a nice night on the dock and Zander & I enjoyed dipping our feet in the water.

Fishin' Fun

On Memorial Day Weekend, we went out to the lake to fish late Saturday night. Jason caught a fish, which was pretty exciting for all of us. Zander loved seeing, but he would not touch it. Here is his reaction. I love how he says the fish is a "Big OOOnnnee!"

Rather Be Fishin'

Saturday, after the pouring down rain finally stopped, we took Zander (& Mason) on his first fishing trip. Friday night, Zander got to pick out his very own fishing pole and was super-duper excited to go try it out. So when we woke up on Saturday and heard the rain, we feared he wouldn't get to go. The rain did stop, not until 5:30 pm, but we still had time to go. He did rather well I thought, at least for a 3 year old. When we got down to the dock, he sat nicely in his chair and wanted to hold his pole. As soon as Daddy got it in the water and he was holding on, he says, "I got something!" Of course he didn't, but it was cute and he enjoyed looking at the minnow on the his hook. We didn't catch anything, but the guy next to us did, so he was excited to see that. Zander was really good at reeling in his line, I think that was his favorite part. He must of enjoyed it, 'cause he has asked everyday sense if he could go fish with Spongebob. (Spongebob was the character on the fishing pole he picked.) So look for some more fishing photos.

Oh, I almost forgot. When we got there and Zander saw the water, he was excited as he always is when he sees water. But this time it was not for the water. When he looked out at the water, he exclaimed, "A WHALE!!!" He had seen a large stick floating in the middle of the lake and he honestly thought it was a whale. I think he was very disappointed when I told him it was just a stick. You should have heard that conversation!
