It was not a good trip for my eye!! Ouch!!
Well, we sure thought this was going to be a great getaway and were very much looking forward to it. We left early Thursday morning from the Killeen airport. It was nice not having to drive to Austin or Dallas to catch our flight. We were off to a great start. Not too much later though, our trip took a gloomy turn. From our Killeen flight, we were to take a flight out of Houston to Puerto Vallarta. Our plan was to leave early so we could arrive early. Plans don't always turn out, as we found out. The flight from Houston was delayed for an hour, then 2 hours, than 4. That's right, we were stuck at the Houston airport for FOUR hours!!
So, we finally left Houston and arrived in Puerto Vallarta at 6 pm. We got off the plane, collected our baggage and started heading out. On the way out of the airport, we were stopped by 2 timeshare guys and got stuck talking to them for like 30 minutes. YUCK! That was crappy!! They like snag you and you can't get away. And not only are they at the airport, but they are at your hotel as well. But after the airport incident, we knew not to talk to them.
It only took a few minutes to get to our hotel and we were glad to be there. It was not as nice as I had imagined. We were ok with it though. After checking in, we went up to our room and looked out at the beach from our balcony. It looked beautiful, and I couldn't wait to get it. But, we were hungry, so we went to get dinner first. The food was good, it's all pretty much the same at every hotel in Mexico. When we finished, we walked down to the sand to take a little stroll on the shore. By then, it was getting dark, so we decided to go into town and check out the night life. We ended up at a fun bar with lots of games going on. We stayed for a little while and then head back to our room to sleep.
Our plan for the next day was to shop and lay on the beach. So we got up, went downtown, bought lots of souvenirs, and went back to change into our suits for our first deep in the ocean. There were a few waves, but it wasn't too bad. We were out tring to body surf and I heard Jason say "Look Out!" At that point it was too late. I was smacked right in the eye by the parasailor's rope. I quickly got out of the water, I couldn't see from the eye that had been hit and I wanted to go in and wash it out. We grabbed the security guard on the beach and asked if there was a clinic in the hotel. He lead us inside, but it ended up there wasn't a clinic in the hotel, so they called a doctor to come look at it. I didn't want to be treated, so I told them I would go and clean it out myself. We went to the little market across the street and bought some stuff to clean my wound out with. And went back to the room to rest. After my little rest, I could see better and my eye was now dilating.
I wasn't up for much after that, so we went to check out the spa. We both found a massage package we liked and made an appointment for later in the day. I wasn't sleeping much with my eye, so we got back in our suits and layed out by the pool until it was time for our massages. The massage was great. We both really enjoyed them. I felt better after the massage, so we went out again that night.
Day three, we did a little more shopping and chilled by the pool. That night we went on a pirate cruise ship. That was very fun!! There was a little comical show, dinner, and fireworks out on the cruise ship. If you decide to visit Puerto Vallarta, I strongly recommend this little trip.
We were on our last day now. We got up, went down to eat breakfast, packed our bags, and checked out. We had to wait a while before it was time to go to the airport, so we just lounged around at the beach bar, had some snacks and soda, and then headed to the airport. We were glad to be on our way home to see Zander.
Our flight left on time and we arrived in Houston for our flight. We ate some dinner at the airport and headed to our terminal. We boarded our home flight on time, but once we were all loaded and on the runway, it started raining, so we were stuck there until it stopped. We arrived home about an hour late and were happily greeted by Zander and Mimi.
We had fun inspite of the mishaps, but I don't think we will go back there.
